Dance producers rearrange Nina Simone |

By Kerri MasonNEW YORK (Billboard) - "You may
dig on the Rolling Stones," Mos Def posits on
1999's "Black on Both Sides," "but they could
never ever rock like Nina Simone."
With current pop offering little
inspirational meat, modern artists are finding
grit and passion in the storied figure -- and
voice -- of Simone, the jazz singer/songwriter
who died three years ago.
Lauryn Hill shouted her out in "Ready or
Not." Mary J. Blige and Kanye West borrowed some
samples. Even NPR gave her culturally aware
props, proclaiming, "In the 1960s, no black
woman was more gangsta."
Now it's dance's turn to incorporate the
singer's sound and style with "Nina Simone:
Remixed and Reimagined" (Legacy/RCA), due in
stores Tuesday. "The timing is perfect,"
executive producer Scott Schlachter says.
"Nina's music is experiencing a major resurgence
right now."

than Hulk Hogan and Macho Man swing
dance competitions, Vince McMahon is
really missing out. Watch as Hogan
painfully swings his way in and out
of the ring with his completely
heterosexual partner Randy Savage. I
don't agree with the winner though,
I think equal amounts of WTF were
