Dear Dancers,
Last weekend's West Coast
Swing event, Summer Hummer, was one of the best events that I've been to
in recent memory: International talent, incredible late night dancing
and a pool party to remember. Special congratulations to Kim
Brolet for making finals in the Novice Division and for debuting her
routine with Jim Guglielmo; and Jerry Chylkowski for making finals in
the Newcomer division.
 This
weekend (Labor Day Weekend) is the #1 Hustle event of the New York City
area: NY Hustle Congress! You can't even call yourself a lover of
Hustle dancing or Hustle music if you don't show up to this event.
Lots of social dancing, amazing routines and the Trammps are playing on
Saturday Night. You might be tired after the weekend, but it'll be
worth it.

Protect Yourself Against Fraud: |
|
 Many
people are worried about paying online for dance stuff (events,
pre-registration, tickets, shoes, etc).
Even safe sites, such as PayPal, scare
people but it's 2008 and it's difficult to avoid paying for
things online. Plus many discounts are offered if you
pre-register early via online payments.
Erik's Advice:
Get a new credit card with a low limit
(like $100). That way you can make online purchases with
minimal worry about someone charging your life away.
It's an easy way to protect yourself
against credit card fraud and limits your exposure....best part,
you can adjust the limit to your comfort level.

Pre-Register and Save Money: |
 Many
events offer discounts if you pre-register/pay.
Fact: Paying at the door can cost
20-50% more than the "early-bird" rates.
Fact: Many smaller events may
even cancel their functions if minimum pre-registration amounts
can not be achieved.
Fact: The stress level of event
director, promoter, guest instructor, hosting facility is
inversely proportional to the amount of pre-registered
attendees.
Bottom line:
